E Safety

Computers and the internet are fantastic for communication and education, however, it is important to use them responsibly and to stay safe at all times. At Chilcote we take time to teach the children about how they can stay safe online and it would be great if you could work in partnership with us to reinforce the messages outlined in the following links:

CBBC web safety - good for younger children Years 2 and 3.

Lee and Kim's Adventure - good for Years 3 and 4

Cyber Cafe - good for Years 5 and 6

Caught in the Web - this is a short film from CBBC Newsround illustrating the dangers of unsupervised access to the internet and gaming addiction. Further e safety advice can be found at www.thinkyouknow.co.uk.

Parents

If you haven't done so already you may want to consider putting restrictions on your PC at home which limit the time and the types of website that your child can look at; this can often be done through the computer's operating system or your online service provider. A final consideration is the length of time a child spends looking at a screen, both television and computer. No more than two hours a day seems to be recommended.
